Support Technician

Fabrication Technician

We are seeking a hands-on, safety-focused, and detail-oriented technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will support production operations, assist with fabrication, and ensure smooth day-to-day technical functionality on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the fabrication and finishing of acoustical sheet metal products.
• Lift, position, and move sheet metal workpieces to support fitting, installation, or welding.
• Measure and mark reference points for layouts and material preparation.
• Load, stack, and transport sheet metal, tools, and work-in-progress using carts or hand trucks.
• Prepare materials by cleaning, scraping, and smoothing surfaces for fabrication or finishing.
• Grind, file, and smooth sheet metal surfaces or weld seams as needed.
• Operate cutting torches, handheld cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment.
• Apply coatings or paint to in-process and finished products.
• Install insulation and sound-dampening materials in enclosures, panels, or tanks.
• Assist with setup of tools, equipment, and production lines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Report and document material, production, quality, or safety issues.
• Perform all tasks with a strong focus on safety, quality, and meeting customer deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Mechanical and fabrication skills.
• Experience in construction and assembly.
• Familiarity with measuring tools.
• General production and machine shop knowledge.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and measurement tools.
• Strong teamwork orientation with flexibility to cross-train in multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow written/oral instructions.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
• Ability to properly use and maintain tools and equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
