Account Manager Small Employer Individual Sales

The Account Manager Small Employer Individual Sales assists Brokers in selling and renewing commercial Small Employer and Individual business for SelectHealth. Manages account activities, and coordinates the re-enrollment of existing groups in addition to the enrollment of new groups, with minimal support. Works closely with the managers and technical support personnel of other departments to facilitate quick and efficient problem resolution. The Small Employer/Individual Sales Account Manager is generally responsible for the following:

• The annual renewal of approximately 1,800 Small Employer groups/20,000-25,000 members.

• Is the SelectHealth liaison for approximately 300 or more assigned Brokers/Consultants/Agencies and their Small Employer and Individual clients.

The job essentials include:

  • Manages the new and renewal process for assigned Brokers for all Small Employer and Individual products (health, dental, etc) throughout the year.
  • Acts as liaison between Broker and Underwriting Department to review the information, risks, plan design, competition, and rates to accurately convey information to the decision-makers within the client organization.
  • Maintains an excellent understanding of all dimensions of SelectHealth in order to accurately relay information. This includes all aspects of the Small Employer and Individual plans including but not limited to Broker Exchange. Presents proposals and negotiates agreements with existing and prospective clients.
  • Works with brokers to meet customer needs for information and problem resolution. Serves as a sales and technical information resource to brokers for both the Small Employer and Individual products.
  • Organizes and coordinates the enrollment of client groups including effectively and knowledgeably presenting plan benefits to employer groups, and being well versed in benefit designs and claims adjudication to respond to group and individual questions and concerns.
  • Reviews and collects completed enrollment applications for new and renewing business as needed. Coordinates the delivery of ID cards, Membership Guides, first month billings, and contracts.
  • Reviews the internal enrollment process to ensure the accurate and timely enrollment and administration of groups.
  • Instructs and assists client administrators in enrollment (including electronic enrollment systems such as SHOBE, EDI or other), billing reconciliation, underwriting risk, contract compliance, and other identified areas.
  • Identifies problems and solutions to management related to benefit designs, provider relations, financial / billing, enrollment, compliance, and other employer concerns.
  • Works closely with Marketing to communicate latest market trends. Conveys to Marketing relevant market information and works with them on any updates to plans and products to ensure SelectHealth's competitive edge.
  • Drafts and reviews procedural and marketing materials for distribution to current and potential members. Provides high quality writing and editing of communications to SelectHealth clients.
  • Meets with clients to address their specific educational needs. Leads the development of education materials, coordinates and/or delivers training to benefit managers and others in administration and use of medical and dental plans.
  • Prepares and conducts formal presentations to explain comprehensive medical and dental benefits to small employer groups.
  • Creates customer satisfaction and loyalty through the judicious and skilled application of Sales Competencies in all interactions with external and internal customers and collaborators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in customer service, sales, marketing, or communications. (Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.)
  • Three years of sales or sales related experience in a health care field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utah or Idaho Resident Producer License for Accident and Health. If incumbent does not have license, they must acquire licensure within six months of employment to remain in the job.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong working knowledge of health insurance.
  • Ability to sell and manage the sales process.
  • Ability to handle duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision; display professionalism in judgment and decision-making.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $30.55 - $48.12
