Inventory Specialist

The Office of the Attorney General is a dynamic organization with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. The OAG is seeking an energetic and dynamic professional to support the Child Support Information Technology hardware allocation team. As an Inventory Specialist, the role will support the Computer Allocation Center in Austin, Texas. This position will have the incredible responsibility for managing, monitoring, deploying, and addressing any physical inventory-related items to the IT team as well as coordinating escalations, logistics, and other support needs for our team members across the state.

Manages large inventory at the computer allocation center for the OAG. Provides assistance as needed with surplus process and purchase requests and supports the CAC program supervisor with the daily operations of the CAC warehouse. Prepares and manages inventory databases, completes forms to successfully transfers inventory from asset to asset, images equipment as required, and maintains the warehouse space. Will be assigned as the primary inventory liaison for the Information Technology department responsible for conducting and reporting monthly and yearly inventory reports.

Coordinates and/or reviews and prioritizes incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and standard office equipment; identifies and logs the type of problem; and monitors the status to ensure a timely resolution. Coordinates and/or sets up equipment for employee use, and performs or ensures proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. Manage numerous projects in parallel. Perform to tight schedules and ensure we meet customer commitments for on-time delivery. Assume ownership of inventory counts in storage. Assume ownership of timely receipts of incoming and outgoing assets. Performs related work as assigned.

Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Telework schedules are permitted for employees based on the agency’s approved Telework Plan (if schedule does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained). Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: computer science, hardware management, management information systems, project management, or inventory management. Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations. Knowledge of computer software and hardware. Knowledge of information systems. Knowledge of information security policies and procedures. Skill in the support of computers, in the use of applicable programs and systems, and in troubleshooting information systems. Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines. Skill in effective communication. Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional environment. Ability to work in person at an OAG work location, if needed. Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel, if needed. Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA. Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. Ability to travel up to 5%.
