Job Title

This position is responsible for performing treatments and technical procedures as required and within the defined scope of practice or validated competency.

Job Functions:

  • Gathers all necessary demographic and insurance information in order to register the patient.
  • Assists nursing staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions.
  • Obtains and articulates pertinent data in an objective manner.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN or LPN to assure continuum of care.
  • Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures.
  • Performs Patient Safety Attendant functions as needed.
  • Prepares and transports patients for examination.
  • Assists emergency staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions as delegated.
  • Performs EKGs and point of care testing.
  • Applies splints and braces on patients as ordered assuring good CMS after application.
  • Performs mandatory equipment checks.
  • Accompanies ambulance transports and assists with airway management as needed.
  • Assists with transfer/discharge paperwork as well as patient registration.
  • Demonstrates competencies in the specialty areas of Emergency, Urgent Care, and In-Patient.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center OR an approved equivalent of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situation and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team.
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment.

License/Certifications:

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
  • EMT certification preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Experience as a Nursing Assistant or EMT preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
