Oxoid Deutschland GmbH as part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific group is a production, sales, and service location with around 200 employees. In the Specialty Diagnostics Group (SDG) business area, to which the Microbiology Division (MBD) belongs, products are manufactured that are used for microbiological applications in clinical laboratories for the diagnosis of infectious diseases and in food and pharmaceutical operations to ensure that their products and production facilities are free from microbial contamination.

In this position, you will support our customers in North Rhine-Westphalia and northwest Lower Saxony. You will nurture and strengthen the relationships between our Microbiology Division and direct sales. You will work closely with local customers in the food and water testing as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors to position our first-class microbiological service offer and to further develop industrial microbiology through innovation.

The position is initially limited to a parental leave replacement until the end of June 2028.

Location:

For this position, it is expected that the Account Manager will be based in Berlin. Candidates who do not currently reside there should be willing to relocate within three months. The job will predominantly be conducted from home office.

A Day in the Life:

  • Building and maintaining strategic customer relationships and expanding business with national key accounts to specifically extend market opportunities for MBD
  • Acquiring new customers in the defined sales area and actively marketing and selling MBD products
  • Developing and coordinating internal resources (e.g., molecular and AST teams) to provide comprehensive customer solutions
  • Identifying new business opportunities and supporting regional customer activities
  • Building and maintaining preferred provider relationships and strategic partnerships to optimally present the MBD and Thermo Fisher portfolio
  • Developing measures to achieve sales targets
  • Analyzing market trends and customer requirements and deriving short, medium, and long-term sales strategies
  • Communicating and anchoring the value proposition of MBD and Thermo Fisher Scientific with our customers
  • Managing contract processes (e.g., confidentiality agreements, framework contracts, price agreements, tenders) and negotiation
  • Creating account reports and consistently using Salesforce to ensure transparent reporting
  • Identifying optimization potentials to standardize processes and improve quality and service
  • Taking on additional tasks as per business requirements

The Key to Success:

  • Completed degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a comparable field, ideally with experience in the field of microbiological products
  • At least two years of sales experience in a comparable technological environment
  • In-depth knowledge of the relevant market
  • Experience in customer relationship management
  • Strong sales agility and independent working style
  • High commercial competence and a strong customer orientation
  • Proven sales successes and above-average performance record
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and promote teamwork
  • Structured working style and strong planning and implementation capabilities
  • Negotiation confidence and strong skills in proposal management
  • Driver's license and willingness to travel (at least 60% in the sales area)
  • Very good communication and presentation skills
