Senior Relationship Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Divisional Account Management Team at S&P Global. This focused and dynamic group is dedicated to expanding our client relationships across the entire Market Intelligence portfolio of products and services. As a Senior Relationship Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and enhancing client relationships, ensuring that our offerings meet the evolving needs of our customers.

The Divisional Account Management Team is committed to supporting our clients with innovative solutions that address their most pressing challenges across the capital markets workflow. You will need to collaborate closely with the Sales Specialists, Customer Success, Product teams, Chief Client Office, and Legal teams to deliver comprehensive solutions to our clients.

The successful candidate needs to have the ability to engage in meaningful conversations with clients alongside delivering exceptional value and insights that help our clients navigate complex financial data landscapes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and foster strong relationships with clients to achieve revenue targets and meet strategic account objectives.
  • Build and maintain a knowledge of current industry and economic events impacting our clients and the relevance of our products, be seen as the market expert amongst your peers and clients. Your ability to understand the nuances of our clients' business will be essential.
  • Build and execute comprehensive account strategies that identify opportunities for growth and expansion. This includes adopting a structured approach to tracking activity, ensuring pipeline accuracy, and forecasting results effectively.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Sales Specialists, Customer Support, Product Management, Chief Client Office, and Legal, to ensure a cohesive and aligned approach to addressing client needs and maximizing upsell opportunities.
  • Play a vital role in mentoring junior members of the sales organization, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Meet and exceed individual growth goals and quotas through renewing and expanding a book of existing business, managing complex negotiations, and identifying new sales opportunities.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will embody the values of partnership, relationship-building, and effective communication. Key qualifications include:

  • A strong understanding of capital market workflows and personas, with prior experience selling to or interacting with financial services professionals being a significant advantage. You should also possess a genuine interest in proactively engaging with clients and developing industry-specific knowledge.
  • Proven experience in account management or sales, preferably within the financial services industry for 6+ years.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills and be confident in client interactions both in person and virtually. Your ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively will be essential.
  • A proven ability to think creatively to drive solutions that meet client needs using the S&P Global suite of solutions. You should be adept at diagnosing client challenges and proposing tailored solutions.
  • A demonstrated track record of collaborating with sales teams and other stakeholders across the Market Intelligence division to identify and drive synergy and cross-sell opportunities.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant discipline, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in sales or a related field.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and CRM systems, with the ability to leverage technology to enhance sales processes and client engagement.
