Tier 1 Support Technician

Location: Ridgeland, SC

Status: On-site, Full-Time

Schedule: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with 30-minute lunch

Our client is seeking a Tier 1 Support Technician for a 6-month contract to provide on-site technical support at a local organization. This role is a temporary backfill for an employee currently on leave, with potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position.

Responsibilities

Device Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve common issues with laptops, desktops, tablets, and related peripherals.
  • Perform basic hardware/software diagnostics and issue triage.
  • Process device swaps or loaners for damaged or non-functional equipment.
  • Assist with imaging, enrolling, and configuring devices using established tools and standards (e.g., MDM, device management platforms).

Technology & Application Support

  • Support technology used in workspaces, including interactive displays, projectors, docking stations, printers, and similar equipment.
  • Ensure devices and systems are ready for key operational periods by verifying software, connectivity, and functionality.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for application access issues (logins, connectivity, basic troubleshooting), escalating as needed.

Ticketing, Inventory, and Communication

  • Monitor and respond to support tickets within defined service expectations.
  • Document work performed and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory of devices and peripherals.
  • Communicate recurring issues or trends to the technology leadership team.

Escalation & Role Limits

  • Escalate advanced or sensitive issues (network infrastructure, servers, security systems) to appropriate technical staff.
  • The consultant will not:
  • Make changes to core network infrastructure or server configurations.
  • Approve or deploy new software platforms without direction.
  • Perform non-technical duties outside the scope of this role.

Requirements

Experience: 1–2 years in technical support or related role.

Skills:

  • Technical support and troubleshooting (hardware/software).
  • Customer service and communication.
  • Imaging and device configuration.
  • Ticket resolution and documentation.

Additional Details

Vendor: To be selected per procurement procedures.

Reporting: Functionally supervised by the Technology Director.

Compliance: Compliance check required; adherence to organizational technology, data privacy, and security policies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ridgeland, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
