Sales Account Manager

Rocky Mountain Laboratories specializes in molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases and toxicology. We are dedicated to delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information and are committed to improving healthcare outcomes through cutting-edge diagnostics and a customer-focused approach.

We're seeking a driven, competitive Sales Account Manager to join Rocky Mountain Laboratories and manage toxicology accounts across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role that requires frequent travel and strong self-direction.

The ideal candidate is already out in the field, actively selling to businesses - ideally within the healthcare system - and is ready to take on a multi-state territory with uncapped earning potential. As this is a relatively new position, it will require an investment of time and effort to establish relationships and drive growth.

While this role demands independence and initiative, it's also highly collaborative. You'll have the support of an experienced team, hands-on training, and are expected to contribute as a team player to shared goals and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute aggressive sales strategies to capture and grow market share across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through persistence, creativity, and a solutions-focused approach
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
  • Lead contract negotiations and guide prospects through the entire sales process, from initial contact to closing deals
  • Deliver compelling product presentations tailored to client needs, demonstrating the value of our services
  • Stay ahead of competitive market trends to anticipate client needs and gain a strategic advantage
  • Collaborate with internal teams to execute targeted campaigns and optimize sales efforts
  • Provide excellent post-sale support, ensuring client satisfaction and retention
  • Track and report on key metrics, maintaining accountability for achieving and exceeding sales goals
  • Proactively manage a travel-heavy schedule across multiple states while maintaining consistent client contact and responsiveness
  • Own the full sales cycle, including lead generation, pipeline development, and territory planning
  • Document sales activity and pipeline progress in CRM tools to support team visibility and forecasting
  • Other duties as assigned by management to support business objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of sales experience in any industry
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quotas in fast-paced, competitive sales environments
  • Experience in territory-based field sales, involving regular travel to client sites (not retail or office-based sales)
  • Medical or healthcare sales experience, ideally involving diagnostics or lab services
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills with a proactive, driven attitude
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly and credibly
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada (including overnight travel)
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to broader team goals
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, mobile tools, and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Google Workspace, Zoom)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling to or working with skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), outpatient clinics, physician groups, or mobile healthcare services
  • Ability to manage a large, multi-state territory, including route planning, travel coordination, and territory strategy
  • Familiarity with healthcare buyer personas (e.g., physicians, administrators, procurement staff)
  • Experience building a book of business from the ground up, including lead generation and cold outreach
  • Understanding of toxicology, molecular diagnostics, or clinical laboratory services
  • Experience presenting to healthcare decision-makers, such as lab managers or clinicians
  • Knowledge of industry regulations or workflows in clinical diagnostics (e.g., CLIA, HIPAA)

A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field is a bonus but not required.

All positions require time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, semi-flexible schedule after training

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Base salary $75,000 plus performance-based bonuses. High performers are typically on track to earn six figures within their first year (bonus details provided by the hiring manager). Travel and mileage reimbursement. A company credit card is provided for approved expenses.

Benefits for full-time W2 employees: Benefits begin 60 days after the first full month of full-time employment.

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid time off (21 days for W2 employees working 40+ hours per week)
  • 7 Paid Holidays
  • 401k
  • HSA
  • Short-term & Long-term Disability
  • Voluntary Life Insurance AD&D

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Applicants must be based in Utah (ideally the northern region) and able to travel frequently throughout Idaho and Nevada. Candidates located near major hubs within those states will also be considered.

Ideal start date:

  • As soon as the right candidate is identified

Application Deadline:

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position may be filled before any stated deadline.

If you meet the above qualifications and are interested in joining our team, please submit your resume for consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!
