Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field (such as social sciences and public health), and three years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools. A master's degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of the experience. A doctoral degree in one of the above fields may substitute for the two years of specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or other statistical software, as well as Microsoft Excel; experience in extracting and analyzing data from large relational databases; experience in large project coordination; experience in survey and interview development and administration. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Duties Description: This position is located in the New York State Department of Health's Division of Nutrition, within the Evaluation, Research, and Surveillance Unit (ERSU). The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of all activities related to the design and implementation of the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Shopping Experience Innovation Project for Online Shopping. The project is grant funded through the United States Department of Agriculture through federal fiscal years 2023 and 2024. The project will survey WIC participants on current shopping practices and assess interest in the availability of online shopping for WIC benefits.
The Project Coordinator will implement the project communication plan and work in collaboration with senior members of the project team to develop and execute recruitment and engagement plans for key stakeholders, including WIC participants and their families, WIC vendors, and WIC clinic staff. The incumbent will work in collaboration with ERSU colleagues to collect and analyze data to inform the State's development and execution of an online shopping solution to increase benefit utilization and participant engagement. The position will supervise a Project Assistant assigned to the project.
Additional Comments: This position is being posted in anticipation of New York State Division of the Budget approval, and is a full-time temporary project appointment for a period of 18 months.
