Customer Service Representative

Are you a dependable, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Auxiliary and Business Services is seeking a Customer Service Representative to support the daily operations of Penn State's Transportation Services. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth and positive experience for faculty, staff, students, and visitors navigating campus parking.

Schedule:

  • Fixed shift: Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Mandatory overtime required during major campus events such as home football games, student move-in, and other high-demand periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to intercom calls from parking deck guests, providing real-time assistance.
  • Monitor and manage gated parking deck operations, including:
    • Directing traffic and rerouting visitors when facilities are full.
    • Assisting with entry, exit, and payment issues.
  • Perform routine walkthroughs and space counts to ensure facility readiness.
  • Resolve customer concerns on-site and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Clearly communicate campus parking rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Promote alternative transportation options and sustainable commuting solutions.
  • Conduct light cleaning and minor maintenance of Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS) equipment.
  • Utilize software platforms such as ArcGIS, T2, SWARCO, INDECT, and Honk to support operations.
  • Investigate incidents using video surveillance tools and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Handle administrative tasks including answering emails and phone calls, processing refund requests, and preparing mailings.

  • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new software systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and perform light physical tasks as needed.
  • A valid driver's license is required

As a member of Auxiliary and Business Services within the Finance and Business unit, you will be joining a team of individuals who have the ambition to help Penn State succeed.

Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications:

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Background Checks/Clearances:

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 - $50,500.00. Salary Structure - Information on Penn State's salary structure
