Customer Services Assistant

Location: Tokyo, Tokyo, JP, 108-8386

Salary: Dependent on skills and experience

About the Role

We are looking for a talented Customer Services Assistant to join our Customer Services Team who will be responsible for serving for all types of customers such as trade customers, schools, teachers and end-users by answering the enquiries, handling the orders and promoting actively with using wide knowledge of OUP products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Care/Consulting

  • Take care of incoming emails and phone calls from customers which means answering enquiries, often includes consulting regarding textbook selection and digital support.
  • This includes customers who use OUPJ e-commerce site and schools which open the direct account with OUP.

2. Support Sales Team

  • As a member of the group directly receiving customer inquiries, liaising requests or issues to Sales Team.

3. Trade accounts maintenance

  • Supporting trade accounts by answering the enquiries, handling the orders and providing promotional materials.
  • This includes visiting the customers.
  • Trade accounts maintenance may occasionally require overnight domestic travel.

4. Liaise with OEI and AG staff

  • The focused subject is not only ELT titles but also OEI and AG products as well. Therefore, this position is needed to work very closely with these divisions.

5. Event attendance

  • Plan and attend CS/Trade oriented events covering ELT/OEI/AG subjects such as an academic conference and storytelling at bookstore online and physically.
  • Staff other major events organised by Marketing as required.
  • Domestic travel on some weekends (mostly overnight travel) may be required.

6. Committees

  • Active participation in cross divisional committees and other special projects.

About You

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree or above
  • Native in Japanese and business level English or higher
  • Interested not only in English language education but also broad area of education and academic studies that OUP covers, and in publishing industry itself.
  • Excellent understanding on Japanese commercial customs
  • Well-motivated to meet with new people
  • Act proactively and work independently with a desire to learn wide subject across over all OUP products.
  • Have a problem-solving mentality and actively seek challenges
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Good at multitask way of working.
