Douglas County IT Department Full Time Position Available With Competitive Full-Family Benefit Package, PERS/OPSRP Retirement And Availability Of Deferred Compensation Retirement Savings. Onsite (Courthouse Complex) Childcare Available At A Discounted Employee Rate Through Roseburg Professional Childcare (Fowler St. Location Only). Availability Is Subject To Center Waitlist. Position Requires Incumbent To Be Available For An On-Call Rotation Working Nights/Weekends.

Job Summary:

This position performs complex technical duties that involve design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of networks and systems deployed throughout the County and the departments within the County.

Essential Functions:

This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.

  • System administration, including server virtualization, Windows Server Operating System support and hardening, system upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting, patching, and maintenance
  • Administer enterprise SAN storage for provisioning, performance, and capacity
  • Manage system backup and recovery jobs, monitoring, and restores
  • Manage Active Directory domain services, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, and Intune
  • Document infrastructure, procedures, and changes

Position Requirements Skills/Qualifications:

This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. However, the following is preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and two years progressively related experience in network and/or systems-related analysis, design, installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of: Thorough knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field is required. Depending on the level of responsibility, the incumbent will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Performs a variety of complex tasks.
  • Skill in: Developing, adapting, modifying, testing, documenting and operating applications programs; system-level programming.
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; obtain appropriate information and analyze needs of user department and translate needs into automated system solutions; integrate vendor-supplied software into County systems; reason logically when analyzing data and developing computer systems and programs; utilize problem identification and resolution techniques; make decisions independently in accordance with established policy, establish new policy when applicable, and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure situations; work within a team concept; plan, organize, schedule and monitor projects; prepare clear and concise documentation; courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees, vendors and the public.
  • Required: At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers license. Regular and consistent attendance.

While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a contingent offer of employment. Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of non-prescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy.
