Customer Service Representative
Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Customer Service Representative to provide exceptional support to the general public by phone and in person. In this role, you will assist customers with questions regarding products, services, licenses, registrations, permits, titles, and program eligibility. You will resolve customer concerns, process account changes, collect payments, and maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to customer inquiries by telephone and in person regarding products, services, and program eligibility.
- Provide information related to licenses, registrations, titles, permits, and public assistance programs.
- Enter orders, process account updates, complete contract forms, and prepare change of address records.
- Investigate and resolve service and billing complaints, including account adjustments and refunds when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, complaints, and actions taken.
- Research policies and procedures to resolve complex customer issues.
- Refer unresolved grievances to designated departments for further investigation.
- Determine charges, collect payments or deposits, and arrange billing.
- Reconcile cash receipts and prepare daily deposits for submission to the bank or state treasurer's office.
- Exercise discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Perform general administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
- Experience working with the public in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a government, administrative, or customer service setting.
- Knowledge of billing, payment processing, and account reconciliation.
- Familiarity with licensing, permit processing, or eligibility determination.
