Freight Implementation Manager

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.

The Freight Implementation Manager is responsible for reviewing and recommending opportunities within each of MRC Global's managed accounts to give corporate direction and execution on the reduction of incurred freight expense. This role understands how MRC Global freight is calculated and the downstream implications on when it is not correctly processed. The Freight Implementation Manager must understand how to interpret the freight subsections of a contract and how to better reduce our exposure to freight.

The role's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and articulate the MRC Global freight process from sales to invoicing.
  • Understand and interpret customer contracts and how freight is interpreted and enact change within each account using current system functionality to reduce freight exposure.
  • Prepare and execute freight-specific training for team members.
  • Highlight and execute system alterations that will assist in freight exposure improvement.
  • Prepare proposals and conduct presentations to executive management levels at customer locations related to MRC Global service offerings, solutions, and implementation capabilities.
  • Analyze key customer metrics and processes to develop improvement opportunities for MRC Global and both existing and potential customers.
  • Conduct and assist Implementation Team members with completion of customer site assessment reports.
  • Provide monthly progress reports for all key Implementation activities to management.
  • Follow up on project task assignments to ensure that activities are completed on-time.
  • Monitor the performance of projects post-implementation.
  • Lead, manage, direct, and document activities, both internally and externally, associated with customer freight integrations and marketplaces for multiple ERP systems, internal department policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years in a related field, preferably with experience in freight logistics.
  • Previous project management experience is desirable.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of, and ability to learn, Microsoft Office software products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visio, and Project.
  • Must also be able to learn other computer software tools as necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of, or ability to learn, the MRC Global ERP system and associated work processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks at once and in dealing with immediate and predetermined deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong business math and analytical skills to accurately understand, calculate, and analyze implementation and process data.
  • Ability to establish working rapport with all levels of management, customers, corporate employees, and other branch personnel using proper phone etiquette and other effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle stress caused by meeting customer demands.
  • Ability to contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions as needed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Most work is performed in an office setting at a desk or in front of a computer.
