Job Description

This position exists to greet guests and provide front-line customer service to individuals visiting or calling Inver Hills Community College. The role is responsible for organizing, managing, and assessing all enrollment services requests received at the Welcome Center desk, including the processes needed to efficiently assist students with admissions, advising, and financial aid questions. Additionally, this position serves as a vital link between Student Affairs, college faculty and staff, and works collaboratively with Dakota County Technical College.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as Welcome Center staff and call center attendant, providing professional in-person and telephone customer service to students, prospective students, corporate partners, and other visitors to the college.
  • Provide administrative support to the Admissions department to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of daily office flow.
  • Provide general back-up support for the Admissions Specialist and Testing Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability To: Answer questions politely via phone, email, virtually and other written or electronic correspondence.
  • Skill in: Customer Service sufficient to (1) Schedule and confirm customers' appointments in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence; (2) Provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.
  • Word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, letters, memos, emails, etc.
  • Data entry skills sufficient to create database records and update entries in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualification

  • Post-secondary degree.
  • Experience working in higher education setting.
  • Experience providing direct service to internal and external stakeholders in higher education.
  • Experience using Minnesota State databases such as the Integrated State Record System, D2L and e-Services.
  • Experience with Connect - Customer Relation Management system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data privacy laws (ex: FERPA).
  • Self-motivated/self-disciplined.
  • Ability to think critically.

Other Requirements

  • Occasional moving of articles and objects (up to 25 lbs.).
  • Maintain a stationary position or moving for a prolonged period of the day
  • Use a keyboard and phone for extended periods of time which may include repetitive motion.

Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm
