Category Manager-IT Services

Reporting to the Global Indirect Supply Management Leader for IT Services, you will utilize your strong business acumen and prior sourcing experience to select the appropriate suppliers, negotiating complex contracts that will protect Medtronic's interests. You will bring your intrinsic drive to make a difference not only in the category of IT Services but for Medtronic overall and the patients we serve. As the Category Manager-IT Services, you will:

  • Create value across the entire portfolio of ~$250M of IT Services spend
  • Work independently to build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage for Medtronic
  • Lead supplier relationship management activities and strategic supplier programs with IT Services partners, in collaboration with IT Vendor Management Office
  • Achieve year-on-year value improvement targets for all aspects of service, innovation, and cost
  • Lead RF(x) events to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized
  • Lead strategic contract negotiations for large-scale engagements with sophisticated external partners
  • Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization, and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is key
  • Interact and partner with IT, Legal, and other key stakeholder groups
  • Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership
  • Advise internal stakeholders with a balanced view of contract risk and liabilities and advocate for their interests
  • Gather market intelligence and industry trends; ability to use market benchmarking to justify and rationalize deal terms to Medtronic cross-functional teams/leadership
  • Recommend solutions to business problems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Educate and train stakeholders on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies
  • Work alongside experienced and motivated colleagues who are collaborative, creative, and know how to have fun

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant sourcing experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant sourcing experience

Nice to Have

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Management, Procurement, Category Management, Finance, IT / Shared Services or any functional experience that developed analytical skills and commercial acumen
  • Indirect sourcing experience (IT Services, Professional Services, Financial Services, Legal Services)
  • Ability to partner and influence senior leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, judgment, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong program management skills
  • Experience in influencing and leading internal teams and external suppliers to deliver results
  • Aptitude to prioritize and juggle many high-visibility projects at the same time
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders
  • Experience working in a large global organization
  • Experience reviewing and drafting legal agreements

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110,400.00 - $165,600.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
