Job Opportunity In Lansing, MI

This position is located in Lansing! This person will be required to answer calls quickly and assist customers with their needs. These customers will be calling about insurance questions, what products they are eligible for, what costs will look like, etc. Someone with Medical/Insurance customer service experience would be a perfect fit, but it is not necessary. Hours are 8:30 to 5pm and 8:30-4:30pm on Fridays.

Daily job duties include:

  • Coordinating the schedule for the clinical staff.
  • Verifying insurance information and obtaining the necessary authorizations and referral forms.
  • Processing the orders in the computer system along with maintaining a current status on orders to be processed.
  • Filing customer orders.
  • Discharging patients promptly and courteously and filing medical records.
  • Prepping all documents for imaging as well.
  • Keep in mind that patients are of all ages and this location specializes in Prosthetic, Orthopedics, and Mastectomies. They have scheduled appointments but a lot of walk-ins. Average, 30 per day.

50/50 phone work, answering, scheduling, verification, ordering, VS clerical duties.

Qualifications must haves for long term opening:

  • Smiley, friendly, bubbly, extrovert.
  • Dealing with stressful situations: upset patients, right when they walk in the door. 20% of patients. Sick, stress out, mentally challenged people.
  • Ability to provide customer service to patients and make them feel welcomed.
  • Ability to have a thick skin due to some of the conversations being difficult or with people that are generally unhappy.
  • Ability to learn the software system so basic computer skills are in order.
  • Reliable and solid attendance.
  • Retail background is solid.

Nice to haves:

  • Medical or Insurance verification customer service experience.
  • Anyone who has worked in the DME industry would be great.
  • Face to face customer service experience is a BIG plus because that can be harder to handle compared to over the phone.

Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
