Our client is a full-service home medical equipment company offering a wide range of products including CPAP machines, ventilators, bath aids, and more. We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our Traverse City team and support patients with medical equipment needs, insurance coordination, and administrative support. Key responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service via inbound/outbound calls and email, educating patients and caregivers on the use and care of respiratory equipment, troubleshooting equipment issues and explaining insurance coverage and financial responsibilities, processing orders, scheduling deliveries, and verifying referral documentation. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with Respiratory Department staff and Program Managers, maintaining accurate records and ensuring HIPAA compliance, and assisting walk-in patients with equipment returns and pickups.
Required qualifications include 1–3 years of customer service or administrative experience in a medical, insurance, or office setting, strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical equipment and insurance details clearly, detail-oriented with a high level of empathy and patience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows systems, ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist patients into seated positions, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include medical assistant, CNA, or insurance verification experience, familiarity with medical terminology, billing, or HIPAA regulations, and interest in or pursuing a degree in Respiratory Therapy.
On-call rotation (post-direct hire) includes remote on-call availability 1–3 times/month. Must have access to a private, secure location with Wi-Fi and computer. Compensation includes weekdays (5 PM–9 PM): $25 stipend, weekends (9 AM–9 PM): $60 stipend, and hourly wage paid for time spent on calls, plus stipend even if no calls are received. Work environment is on-site at the Traverse City store, business casual attire or scrubs, and must wear closed-toe shoes. The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
