Advertising Account Coordinator

The St. Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking an experienced and proactive Advertising Account Coordinator to join our team! We are transforming the news industry by connecting advertisers with high-value audiences through our award-winning content and multi-platform products, including web, mobile, social, and print.

As an Advertising Account Coordinator, you'll be a vital partner to our outside sales team, helping drive revenue across our full suite of digital and print advertising solutions. From supporting new business prospecting to post-sale campaign management, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth operations and outstanding client service — allowing our sales reps to focus on what they do best: building relationships and closing deals.

This position is crucial to the efficiency of our sales team and the success of our advertising products. Your ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and deliver high-quality work will directly impact client satisfaction and revenue growth.

What you will do:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between sales representatives and the ad operations team to ensure timely, accurate execution of all approved sales orders
  • Maintain and organize sales documentation, historical data, and client records to support team efficiency
  • Assist in identifying and qualifying new business opportunities using both internal and external resources
  • Conduct pre-sale audits, gather relevant market research, and prepare customized sales proposals and presentations
  • Act as a frontline point of contact for advertising clients — resolving billing issues, addressing business-related questions, and ensuring a smooth customer experience throughout the campaign lifecycle
  • Support digital campaign workflows, from contract execution and onboarding calls to post-sale reporting and performance reviews
  • Collaborate with sales reps to ensure campaign goals, timelines, and deliverables are met
  • Create customized spreadsheets and presentations that incorporate financial data and campaign performance metrics to inform strategy and upsell opportunities
  • Manage ad placement schedules, verify insertion orders, and confirm accuracy of rates and production specs
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate billing and contract compliance

What you bring:

  • 3–5 years of business experience, ideally in media, marketing, or sales support
  • Strong working knowledge of digital advertising platforms, with proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; able to build trust with clients and work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities with accuracy
  • Strategic thinker with a clear understanding of client goals, capable of supporting both short- and long-term business objectives

Benefits and compensation:

The hourly wage range is $23.07 - $25.64 + bonus based on performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
