Technical Assistance for Light- and Electron Microscopy (f/m/d) Imaging Platform

The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (Bad Nauheim, Germany) Imaging Platform invites applications for a full or part time Technical Assistance for Light- and Electron Microscopy (f/m/d).

The Imaging Platform of the MPI-HLR provides MRI, µCT, TEM and light microscopy services for more than 120 scientists from all research groups at the institute. We are a multidisciplinary team, involved in a wide range of research projects, providing imaging solutions for various sample types from cells to whole organisms. To assist our researchers with light microscopy, we provide training and maintenance for our seven confocal and widefield microscopes, help them to optimize and troubleshoot experiments, and provide image analysis services. As the demand for light microscopy services is growing, we are searching for additional support for our team.

Your responsibilities

• Training and support for light microscopy users of the core facility
• Routine maintenance of light microscopes and analysis workstations
• Calibrating instruments to ensure optimal performance
• Technical help with electron microscopy sample preparation
• Troubleshooting and optimizing imaging experiments
• Help organize repairs and events
• Help other team members with small animal MRI (preferred but not necessary)

Your qualifications

• Scientific University degree with a B.Sc., M.Sc., or professional training as technical assistant (BTA, MTA)
• Excellent communication in English and strong interpersonal skills mandatory
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
• Strong motivation to learn new methods and skills
• Knowledge about cell biology desirable
• Experience in light microscopy desirable, but not necessary
• Availability to be involved in animal research (MRI) preferred but not necessary
