The Account Manager will be responsible for the retention of existing accounts and production of new personal lines accounts. This person will provide prompt, efficient, high-quality customer service to designated target-market accounts in support of agency and personal line standards and procedures. Grow and develop talents and insurance knowledge to the highest level possible.

The Account Manager will provide high level analytical skills and handle big picture issues, understanding clients' risk tolerance and presenting creative insurance solutions for risk transfer techniques. The Account Manager will handle overall management of accounts from renewal reviews, company placement and high level consultative discussions and a lead in remarketing efforts. Has the capacity to effectively and independently manage a book of business that is 1.3M of Premium Volume or larger.

The Account Manager will have strong customer service and interpersonal skills allowing them to deal and work with different types of clients. This person will be able to adapt to the every-changing insurance market, communicating new insurance industry trends and company appetites.

Responsibilities

  • Remarketing and New Business: Responsible for gathering the information and risk management recommendations for designated accounts. Market new business and existing accounts; determine premiums in comparative rater and company website. Prepare and present proposals to clients/prospects. Provide information and assist Producer with the sale of the account. Check in and bill Rewritten and New Business policies. May ask for the assistance of CSR and/or Associate Account Manager with remarketing.
  • Renewals: Perform renewal reviews, check in renewal, confirm coverages, correct errors if necessary, notify Producer if coverages do not meet agency standards, account rounding opportunities or excessive premium increase. If necessary, bill renewal on system. Document system per agency standards.
  • Processing/Endorsements/Billing: Key contact person for high level discussions and changes. Forward processing requests to CSR or Associate Account Manager to handle endorsements, billing and processing requests. If assistance is not available, process, check in and bill endorsements. If changes are not processed accurately, request CSR to update policy accordingly.
  • Customer Service: Receive calls from clients, insurance company representatives and related industries. Handle and process all requests in conjunction with customer service representative and claims specialist. Answer questions promptly and efficiently, maintain a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with customers, agency and company personnel to minimize potential for errors & omissions claims. Assist claims department in providing coverage information.
  • Insurance Carriers: Maintain a good working relationship with insurance companies and representatives that we work with. Maintain underwriting and marketing information by carrier. Continuously improve product and coverage knowledge.
  • Agency Management/File System: Maintain files, applications, document and update agency management per agency standards. Assist in the maintenance of company intranet and agency management system.
  • Project Management: Manage and/or coordinate department projects that are assigned by Supervisor, Department manager or Producer.

Qualifications, Education, and Licensing

  • MUST have previous experience having worked in Personal Lines Insurance.
  • MUST have thorough understanding of Personal Lines underwriting and coverages.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in related insurance role.
  • Professional Insurance Designations strongly preferred or be willing to obtain within a period of 2 years of hire.
  • Must have all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance to discuss and/or sell insurance in states where the agency functions or very close to obtaining license upon acceptance of job offer.
  • College degree preferred, but not mandatory
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TravelLimited local travel may be required for this position.
