Internal Audit Services Master's Intern

Internal Audit Services (IAS) provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services that improve Kaiser Permanente's operations and controls. Using a risk-based, systematic approach, IAS evaluates and enhances the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes. IAS develops and executes the annual audit plan, partners across risk units to coordinate coverage, reports results to the Audit & Compliance Committee, and follows the IIA Standards and Code of Ethics. Our focus is to do the right work, partner with stakeholders, and add value by identifying meaningful risks, practical solutions, and measurable impact.

This intern will be part of the National Health Plan, Finance, Human Resources, and Community Health portfolio, supporting audit projects. Responsibilities may include assisting in planning, performing control testing (walkthroughs and process documentation), conducting data analysis, and preparing audit workpapers.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.
  • Report development and analytics.
  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.
  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Basic qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Additional requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
