Research Project Coordinator

The CLEaR research team in the Department of Mental Health is seeking a research project coordinator to oversee the daily tasks of field interviewers for a large-scale data collection effort of health, mental health, and aging to be conducted in Baltimore, Maryland. The successful candidate will perform tasks related to the coordination of the PIRC study and will report directly to the senior coordinator. This person may also provide coordination support to other studies conducted by the research team.

The research project coordinator will administratively coordinate research protocol implementation, typically for a single study. Will ensure efficient logistical implementation of the study activities and provide administrative support for all related issues.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities of a research study to ensure validity of findings.
  • Work with the principal investigator or senior research staff to develop operational plans to meet research goals.
  • Develop tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
  • Collect and organize data per study requirements, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; conduct background research, laboratory processing, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with setup of data collection system and enter and organize data.
  • Oversee record management for research study.
  • Oversee budget expenditures for study operations.
  • Assist in coordinating study meetings.
  • Participate in study meetings and provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues.
  • Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties listed above

  • Contributes to the programming of PIRC survey interview into REDCap, as well as conducts quality control checks.
  • Collaborates with field managers to prepare items for IRB initial and ongoing submission requirements.
  • Supports senior research coordinator in coordinating, overseeing, and troubleshooting the data collection activities of between 10-15 field interviewers.
  • Contribute to selection of field interviewer candidates.
  • Develops and conducts study training for field and office staff.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred qualifications

  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Prior experience with primary data collection.
