Entry Level Geotechnical Specialist/Engineer

Jacobs is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Specialist/Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, MO, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems. You'll also inspect geotechnical exploratory, and construction related activities and specifically, develop as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You'll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering
  • At least a 3.0 GPA
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with Ensoft LPile and Group GeoStudio Slope and Sigma, GRLWeap, Civiltech Shoring Suite, Bentley gINT, Bentley MicroStation, and AutoCAD

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $90,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
