The Genomics Account Manager role is a robust client retention position with a primary focus on penetration and growing business within established base accounts. The Genomics Account Manager will play a critical role in driving commercial success by managing client relationships and supporting healthcare providers in the utilization of Fulgent's cutting-edge genetic testing solutions across reproductive health, women's health, oncology, and rare disease. The Genomics Account Manager will be responsible for working with Sales Directors in helping to manage existing accounts within an assigned territory, achieving sales targets, supporting Sales Director territory goals, and supporting product adoption through clinical education and superior customer service. They are responsible for gaining access to physician group executives, developing and executing account strategies, driving sales presentations, and closing growth opportunities. Genomics Account Managers may assist with onboarding and training of newly hired sales team members as needed.
Key job elements include:
- Establish, build, and maintain relationships within assigned base accounts while monitoring account health and targeting strategic opportunities for penetration. Establish and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, genetic counselors, laboratory directors, and institutional stakeholders.
- Execute client retention and penetration strategies, ensuring clients utilize Fulgent resources to the fullest potential.
- Utilize daily quota achievement tools to monitor overall territory performance vs. target, as defined by leadership.
- Drive incremental business by implementing a gap analysis approach, identifying non-Fulgent targeted physicians. Develop and execute territory-based business plans to meet or exceed sales goals for genetic testing products and services.
- Maintain and provide documented feedback, track sales performance and customer engagement, define retention strategies using forecasting data, and monitor opportunity pipelines using CRM tools and internal reporting systems.
- Develop, oversee, and design robust sales content, field initiatives, and training solutions in collaboration with Sales Directors, Marketing, and Client Services. Deliver product presentations and clinical education to customers, highlighting the value and applications of Fulgent's test offerings.
- Provide feedback from clients to internal Sales and Client Services teams to enhance customer experience and product development.
- Attend industry conferences, webinars, networking, and other corporate events to stay informed on market trends and competitive positioning.
- Demonstrate core level of knowledge of genetic testing, technology solutions, and competitive strategies through the use of company resources including on-the-job training, in-house literature, marketing materials, and sales brochures.
Knowledge/experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree (MS or PhD) or with a clinical background in a relevant field such as genetic counseling or nursing.
- Minimum five plus (5+) years of combined experience in healthcare account management, medical or laboratory sales, and training required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in reproductive and women's genetic testing (NIPT and ECS), diagnostics, or clinical testing applications.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel by car or air and overnight up to 50% as required within the assigned territory.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, learning management systems, and data reporting systems.
- Proven ability to develop and manage a myriad of relationships within key accounts and establish healthy long-term customer relationships.
- Possess a high degree of understanding of the client relationship with Physicians, their needs, and how Fulgent can provide service and technology solutions for their genetic testing needs.
