IT Technical Associate (Tableau Developer)

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at UIC, located in a large metro area, is seeking a full-time IT Technical Associate (Tableau Developer). Responsibilities include creating, developing, and maintaining dashboards and other visualization tools that support the department's data analysis and reporting needs. Collaborate with the department to understand data needs and requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Synthesize client needs and utilize data analytics architecture, tools, and teams to deliver solutions. Work with the IT department and others to ensure data is properly integrated and structured for reporting and analysis. Analyze data to identify trends and provide insights to stakeholders. Monitor and maintain the integrity of data. Perform analysis using SQL, modeling, and other quantitative techniques to resolve business data issues and/or recommend courses of action. Utilize strategies that reduce data issues with a bias for preventing recurrence and increase the consistency/confidence of data used for decision making. Create and maintain documentation for data management processes, reports, and analysis, including documenting data sources, data definitions, data transformations, and other relevant information. Learn new data analytics technologies and participate in data analytics tool evaluation, selection, and implementation. Train stakeholders on the use of Tableau and/or Power BI and other data visualization tools. Coordinate and develop data education programs to enhance data literacy. Participate in project activities and provide project status to stakeholders. Escalate issues and assess and address risks to ensure project success. Provide input and support for upgrades, capacity planning, and best practices. Other duties as assigned.
