The Impact Project Coordinator drives enterprise-wide sustainability by identifying risks, uncovering innovation opportunities, and optimizing the use of all critical resources—time, money, materials, and human capital. This role leads the development and implementation of integrated strategies that improve operational efficiency, support regulatory and stakeholder expectations, and contribute to long-term business resilience. By embedding sustainability principles into core processes, the coordinator creates a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that sustainability efforts deliver measurable value across environmental, economic, and operational dimensions. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, this role is pivotal in aligning sustainability performance with the organization's broader strategic objectives.

Location: Hybrid – Michigan City, Indiana - must be within driving distance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated understanding of sustainability compliance and sustainability practices in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated success managing or leading sustainability, environmental, or operational projects
  • Must have the ability to travel (Approximately 15%) with overnight stays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or PMP Certificate preferred
  • Experience in remanufacturing operations
  • Background in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs
  • Experience managing innovation or continuous improvement projects
  • Knowledge of circular economy models and implementation in manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks or energy/resource tracking tools
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement site-level sustainability strategies aligned with corporate goals
  • Lead energy, resource, and waste reduction initiatives at manufacturing and remanufacturing sites
  • Champion sustainability culture across all levels of the organization

Sustainability Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Work with EH&S, Engineering, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with sustainability regulations and policies.
  • Lead risk assessments to identify and mitigate sustainability-related risks (environmental, operational, supply chain, reputational) and enhance resilience.

Waste Reduction & Circular Economy:

  • Lead programs to reduce landfill waste and promote reuse, recycling, and remanufacturing
  • Integrate circular economy practices into product and process design

Integrated Energy & Resource Optimization:

  • Implement innovative solutions to improve energy efficiency and optimize resource use (water, materials, operations).
  • Conduct audits and use data analytics to track and improve resource utilization, cost savings, and environmental impact.

Sustainability Reporting & Communication:

  • Monitor and report progress toward sustainable goals
  • Communicate key results to internal and external stakeholders

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead sustainability-driven innovation and improvement projects
  • Stay informed on new technologies, regulations, and industry best practices

Collaboration & Training:

  • Engage and manage cross-functional teams to embed sustainability into daily operations
  • Develop training and awareness programs to enhance employee involvement

Project & Change Management:

  • Manage sustainability projects from concept to completion
  • Lead change initiatives and support the adoption of sustainability tools and strategies
