Parking & Transit Technician

Join our team! The Town is currently seeking a Parking & Transit Technician for the 2026 summer season. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with the public, and contributing to the day-to-day functionality of a busy recreational community. This role is a full-time seasonal position to at least mid August and ideally mid October, requiring some work on weekends, evenings and holidays. The Seasonal Parking and Transit Technician supports the Town's parking and transit operations during peak visitor seasons. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and visitor-friendly parking and transit services in a high-demand recreational environment. Duties include field operations, customer service, data collection, and close coordination with the parking and transit manager.

The following list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all-encompassing. Duties are performed on a rotating shift basis. The Town may change these duties at any time.

  • Works under supervision of the Parking & Transit Manager.
  • Assists with daily parking operations including monitoring parking areas, responding to customer inquiries, and supporting compliance efforts.
  • Provides friendly, clear, information to residents and visitors regarding parking regulations, permits, transit routes, transit schedules, and special events affecting parking or transit operations.
  • Support transit operations through passenger assistance, wayfinding, stop monitoring, and coordination with drivers and dispatch as needed
  • Assist with parking technology and equipment, including pay stations, signage, temporary devices, and handheld units
  • Collects field data related to parking occupancy, turnover, transit ridership, and special events.
  • Assist with temporary traffic control including installing and removing cones, barricades, and signage during special events, construction, or peak periods.
  • Respond to parking- and transit-related service requests and relay issues to supervisor.
  • Support parking enforcement staff as needed (non-sworn; does not issue parking violations unless specifically directed)
  • Maintain a professional, welcoming presence that reflects the Town's customer service standards.
  • Participate in daily and/or weekly job-related staff briefings.
  • Perform other related work duties as required or assigned

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn and follow all parking regulations, including but not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency including working knowledge of Google suite and Microsoft software (i.e. word, excel)
  • Ability to learn and explain parking and transit systems clearly to the public, including understanding and interpreting maps and brochures.
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness and work safely in varying and changing situations.
  • Ability to learn and implement conflict de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
