Under direct supervision, will assist in enforcing local vehicle parking ordinances and laws.
This is a part-time, at-will, position that receives direct supervision from a Community Development Manager and may work up to 15 hours per week. The schedule may include early morning hours, weekends, and holidays depending on department needs.
This position will work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays.
Essential Functions
- Patrols City streets and neighborhoods to enforce parking control laws and regulations, write and/or issue citations or warnings in accordance with city regulations, ordinances, and procedures.
- Responds to parking violations and complaints.
- May interact with public during the course of enforcing parking regulations.
- Report criminal activity, graffiti, vandalism, and animal control needs.
- May assist with various code enforcement activities.
- Safely operate a city vehicle
- Knowledge and use of standard office practices and procedures, including the use of computer applications related to the work.
- Work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays.
- Communicate clearly with staff and the public.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City staff and the public.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and at least one year of public contact experience. License or Certificate:
- A valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to complete the 40-hour PC 832 course within six months of employment.
- Depending on assignment, First Aid/CPR certificate may be required.
Supplemental Information
Working Conditions: Majority of job duties will be in a vehicle with prolonged sitting and in an outdoor environment including various weather conditions. May also require prolonged standing, walking, stooping and bending; work on slippery and uneven surfaces and ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times during the work shift; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; have acute vision and hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
