This position provides essential technical support for the Mississippi Library Commission (MLC), serving both internal agency staff and public libraries throughout the state. The technician focuses on resolving moderate-to-complex technical issues and supporting the growth of Mississippi's library technology infrastructure. This technician will also support E-Rate Category 2 technology upgrades and assist with network infrastructure deployments. The position requires familiarity with networking hardware, workstation deployment, and general IT infrastructure. It will work closely with MLC IT staff to implement technology projects, maintain documentation, and ensure reliable technology services for Mississippi libraries.
The successful candidate is a team player, has a good attitude, is willing to learn and grow, and has strong attention to detail. Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills, including graphics and short-form video. Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Video editing software, etc.). Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience managing social media platforms for a brand or organization. Knowledge of library services and a passion for promoting literacy and community engagement are pluses.
Typically requires a high school diploma or high school equivalency; relevant technical knowledge; an understanding of office automation and office systems operating environments and/or complex communication devices; and 1-3 years of end-user support experience. May require a valid Mississippi driver's license.
