Valley County is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior IT Support Specialist to serve as a critical component of our small, fast-paced IT Department. This individual will be a top-tier technical expert for all end-user systems, ensuring maximum productivity and reliable operation across the organization. Typical Duties & Responsibilities: As the primary escalation point for all technical issues, this position is responsible for the following: Advanced Desktop & End-User Support: Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and resolution for complex hardware, software, and operating system issues. This includes advanced diagnostics, configuration, and repair of all employee workstations and mobile devices. System Ownership & Maintenance: Manage and maintain critical end-user systems, including endpoint security software, patch management systems, and desktop imaging/deployment tools (e.g., Active Directory, Intune, JAMF, SCCM). Infrastructure Collaboration: Work closely with other IT staff to resolve issues that bridge desktop and core infrastructure, such as network connectivity, server access, and complex application integrations. Technical Documentation & Mentorship: Develop and maintain high-quality documentation (SOPs, knowledge base articles) for technical staff and end-users. Act as a technical mentor and escalation resource for junior support staff. Project Leadership: Lead small-to-mid-sized IT projects, such as company-wide software rollouts, hardware upgrades, and office relocation technology support, managing tasks from planning through successful implementation.
Typical Qualifications: The successful candidate will typically have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an IT Support, Desktop Engineering, or Systems Analyst role, and demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and managing operating systems in an enterprise environment. They should have strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) as they relate to endpoint connectivity, experience with endpoint management solutions (e.g., Intune, SCCM, or similar MDM), and expertise in Active Directory administration, user/group management, and Group Policy Objects (GPO). They should also possess exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft, review, and communicate technical policies and security best practices to a non-technical audience.
