Front Desk Clerk

Operates the front desk area of a County facility. Performs operations from established guidelines or instructions. Work requires independent thought and the ability to adjust to changing environments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains the front desk area.
  • Processes class registration.
  • Processes membership cards and fees.
  • Operates cash register, opening, close-out, etc.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial and attendance reports.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Responds to inquiries for information or assistance.
  • Interprets and explains rules and regulations; reports violations.

Other Duties:

  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)

  • Knowledge of:
    • Public service practices.
    • Building operation procedures.
    • Basic computer operation.
  • Ability to:
    • Maintain cash and reports.
    • Interpret rules and regulations and apply to situations.
    • Operate basic computer software.
    • Deal effectively with the public.
    • Operate registration software.

Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)

Training and/or Education:

Completion of 10th grade.

Experience:

One year experience working in a customer service-oriented position.

Licenses or Certificates:

First Aid and CPR certificates preferred.

Special Requirements:

Subject to background investigation if employed in the Department of Parks and Recreation. Must be 16 years of age. Work Permit required if under 18 years of age.

Physical Demands:

Requires long periods of sitting, standing, frequent walking indoors, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds; operation of keyboard devices.

Usual Demands:

Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

FLSA Status:

Nonexempt

Compensation Steps:

Pay rate: $19.04 per hour

Grade H07, Hourly position
