The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for a Fish and Wildlife Technician 2 located in Fairbanks!

What you will be doing:

  • Sell and issue hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, permits, and tags using the department's licensing system while accurately handling payments and transactions.
  • Explain State of Alaska sport fishing and hunting regulations,
  • Provide general information about local fishing opportunities and refer members of the public to appropriate ADF&G staff for more detailed questions.
  • Assist with seasonal public education programs and outreach activities conducted by the Communications & Outreach staff.
  • Stock informational materials and maintain the visitor lobby.

Benefits of joining our team: The Region 3 Communication & Outreach team consists of an Education Associate, an Information Officer, and seasonal customer service staff who work together to provide information, outreach, and licensing services by communicating fisheries science, regulations, and fishing opportunities to the public. In the Fairbanks office, you will work with biologists studying and managing Alaska's fish and wildlife, contributing to work that helps sustain these resources for anglers, communities, and future generations. Our office is located at the Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, giving you direct access to miles of trails for walking, biking, wildlife viewing, and bird watching right outside the door, making it a uniquely beautiful and inspiring place to come to work every day.

The working environment you can expect: This position is based at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game office on College Road in Fairbanks, located on the Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge. You will work at the customer service desk in the public lobby/visitor center, a busy space featuring large wildlife and fish displays that regularly attracts visitors seeking information about Alaska's fish and wildlife.

Special Note: Valid Driver's License required. CPR/First Aid Certification: Training will be provided by the department at no cost to the employee. Requires completion of a Marine Safety course upon hire, including pool training and survival suit use.
