The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. Aside from our base salary range, an employee with this position will also be eligible for the following:
A general salary increase (GSI) of 3.5% effective December 20, 2026, and another 3.5% effective December 19, 2027.
Educational Incentive – An educational incentive of 2.5% for completion of an associate degree, 3.5% for completion of a bachelor's degree, OR 5% for completion of a graduate's degree.
Flexible Workweek – A compressed work schedule (e.g., 9/80 workweek) may be available for some positions.
Retirement/Social Security - Defined retirement benefits vest after five (5) years of service. The County and you also each contribute to Social Security. For more information, visit www.vcera.org. If you are eligible, you may establish reciprocity with other public retirement systems, such as CalPERS.
Vacation Accrual – New regular, full-time employees shall accrue approximately 14 days of vacation a year for the first 10,400 hours or 5 years of service; vacation accruals increase at 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 20 years of service topping out at 26 days a year and 400 hours of vacation hours banked.
Vacation Leave Redemption - After 14,560 hours of continuous County service an employee may elect to "cash in" or redeem up to 80 hours of vacation accrued in the same year after using 80 hours of vacation in the preceding 12 months.
Sick Leave – Full time regular employees accrue 3.08 hours of sick leave per pay period with an advance at hire of 40.04 hours which will be balanced at the completion of 13 bi-weekly pay periods.
Health Plans – Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your dependents. A flexible credit allowance of up to $1,024.11 biweekly.

Deferred Compensation - You may elect to contribute to one or both of the County's deferred compensation plans (established under Internal Revenue Code sections 401(k) and 457). If you participate in the County-sponsored 401(k), the County will match a part of your contribution up to 3% of your salary, on a per pay period basis. Following five (5) years of continuous County service, an additional 2% non-elective contribution will be made to the 401(k) plan.

The Information Technology Services (ITS) department works with every Ventura County department/agency to provide the necessary technology infrastructure and consulting/contracting services to meet ongoing and emerging business needs, including project management, business process improvement, applications support, voice/data infrastructure, data security, threat and vulnerability/risk management, and extended staffing.
The OSSA I/II is a member of the embedded IT Services team at the Ventura County Fire District (VCFD) and reports to the ITS Technical Services manager on-site. The OSSA I/II role is responsible for a wide variety of technical tasks dealing with the VCFD's commitment to public safety ranging from (but not limited to) desktop support, virtual server support, public safety applications (client and server), apparatus equipment troubleshooting, wireless technology installation and troubleshooting, station equipment installation and troubleshooting, and support for VCFD staff at headquarters location in Thousand Oaks and other facilities located throughout Ventura County.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a large and diverse environment of business stakeholders, managing changes in the delivery of technology related to enterprise systems, including applications and systems infrastructure, and project/task execution within a public safety environment. Experience should include solid knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, replacement and deployment, Office 365 (O365), ServiceNow or comparable enterprise service management systems), current Windows operating systems, desktop automation/deployment products, Active Directory administration, biometrics, personal computers, laptops, tablets, and phones (as they relate to a networked office environment), current Windows server operating systems, virtual servers and desktops, and exceptional customer relations skills that includes timely follow up and a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written form.
Payroll Titles:
The Office Systems Support Analyst I/II position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 721 and is eligible for overtime compensation. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including temporary and Fixed Term), Intermittent, and Extra-Help vacancies within the Information Technology Services Department.
