Office Systems Support Analyst I/II

The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. Aside from our base salary range, an employee with this position will also be eligible for the following:

A general salary increase (GSI) of 3.5% effective December 20, 2026, and another 3.5% effective December 19, 2027.

Educational Incentive – An educational incentive of 2.5% for completion of an associate degree, 3.5% for completion of a bachelor's degree, OR 5% for completion of a graduate's degree.

Flexible Workweek – A compressed work schedule (e.g., 9/80 workweek) may be available for some positions.

Retirement/Social Security - Defined retirement benefits vest after five (5) years of service. The County and you also each contribute to Social Security. For more information, visit www.vcera.org. Vacation Accrual – New regular, full-time employees shall accrue approximately 14 days of vacation a year for the first 10,400 hours or 5 years of service; vacation accruals increase at 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 20 years of service topping out at 26 days a year and 400 hours of vacation hours banked.

The Information Technology Services (ITS) department works with every Ventura County department/agency to provide the necessary technology infrastructure and consulting/contracting services to meet ongoing and emerging business needs, including project management, business process improvement, applications support, voice/data infrastructure, data security, threat and vulnerability/risk management, and extended staffing.

The OSSA I/II is a member of the embedded IT Services team at the Ventura County Fire District (VCFD) and reports to the ITS Technical Services manager on-site. The OSSA I/II role is responsible for a wide variety of technical tasks dealing with the VCFD's commitment to public safety ranging from (but not limited to) desktop support, virtual server support, public safety applications (client and server), apparatus equipment troubleshooting, wireless technology installation and troubleshooting, station equipment installation and troubleshooting, and support for VCFD staff at headquarters location in Thousand Oaks and other facilities located throughout Ventura County.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a large and diverse environment of business stakeholders, managing changes in the delivery of technology related to enterprise systems, including applications and systems infrastructure, and project/task execution within a public safety environment. Experience should include solid knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, replacement and deployment, Office 365 (O365), ServiceNow or comparable enterprise service management systems), current Windows operating systems, desktop automation/deployment products, Active Directory administration, biometrics, personal computers, laptops, tablets, and phones (as they relate to a networked office environment), current Windows server operating systems, virtual servers and desktops, and exceptional customer relations skills that includes timely follow up and a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written form.

Payroll Titles:

  • Office Systems Analyst I: $43.58 - $57.96 hourly
  • Office Systems Analyst II: $48.21 - $66.92 hourly

The Office Systems Support Analyst I/II position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 721 and is eligible for overtime compensation. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including temporary and Fixed Term), Intermittent, and Extra-Help vacancies within the Information Technology Services Department.

There is currently one (1) Regular, Full-time vacancy.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Installs and configures new physical and virtual servers to support application requirements;
  • Provides server maintenance and support through upgrades, patches, troubleshooting, and retirement to meet business needs and minimize impact to business processes;
  • Monitors assigned service requests/incidents to accept, troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate tickets consistent with departmental policies in order to meet service level commitments;
  • Supports user accounts, security groups, and group policies within Active Directory, and supported applications;
  • Interfaces with vendors and consultants on the analysis and evaluation of new products and services and makes recommendations that ensure the successful installation of systems;
  • Assigns various tasks to subordinate positions and monitors progress;
  • Evaluates and recommends upgrades or new technologies to maintain systems current with technology developments;
  • Communicates verbally and in writing project status reports to management on progress for assigned tasks and projects using standard templates and/or work management systems;
  • Troubleshoots systems outages and effectively uses vendor support to expedite troubleshooting and resolution;
  • Meets with supervisors and co-workers or in cross-functional teams responsible for the design, development, and implementation of network systems and supporting infrastructure to collaborate on projects;
  • Develops, documents, and follows standard processes using service management best practices, run books, design documents, policies, and maintenance schedule to provide consistent quality outcomes;
  • Accepts assignments as the subject matter expert for multiple enterprise technologies to determine correct resolution for services requests/incidents and escalates to the appropriate vendor when problems exceed internal expertise;
  • Ensures Service Level Commitments (SLCs) are being met for areas of responsibility;
  • Performs capacity planning and follows industry best practices while developing network strategies in support of services supplied to IT Services' customers;
  • Performs audits, license purchases, renewals and ordering of hardware and software to maintain accurate inventory of licenses and identify license needs; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In addition to the above, level II performs the following:

  • Interfaces with vendors and consultants on the analysis and evaluation of new products and services to make recommendations which ensure the successful installation of systems network equipment.
  • May serve as lead in meetings in cross-functional teams responsible for the design, development, and implementation of network systems and supporting infrastructure to collaborate on projects;
  • Troubleshoot network system outages and effectively use vendor support to expedite troubleshooting and resolution;
