Customer Service Assistant

King County Juvenile Court Services is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Customer Service Assistant. This position is responsible for engaging and assisting visitors to the court. The incumbent acts as a source of logistic information for court involved youth, their family members, various community visitors, and vendors. Responsibilities include providing customer service that typically involves receiving and handling visitors' inquiries and/or complaints and responding to information requests. Assist with peer parent engagement and feedback recommendations for collecting information that supports improving systems and wayfinding. Support community resource fairs and outreach. Work is performed under general supervision, requiring a moderate degree of independent judgment. Work location: This position is primarily located at the Patricia Clark Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle. The incumbent may also be required to work at other Superior Court locations. Work schedule and terms: This full-time position is hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The incumbent will work 35 hours per week. The workweek is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Variations from these hours may occur. The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level.

  • Welcome and educate court visitors of the Bobbe J. Bridge Resource Center about general court processes, resources for youth, families, and the community.
  • Guide visitors to community meeting spaces, courtrooms, interpreter services, childcare (if available), Clerk's office, resource center, and other departments within the CCFJC.
  • Provide program-specific information to internal and external customers via phone, email, and in person.
  • Interview and screen individuals to identify service needs and required documentation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Perform administrative tasks including mail handling, meeting scheduling, supply ordering, and document management.
  • Coordinate workshops, trainings, building tours, and special events; maintain parking and feedback systems.
  • Collect, research, and manage data for reporting and recordkeeping; perform data entry and updates.
  • Assist in coordinating parent engagement efforts including support groups, school outreach, and youth program research.
  • Support stakeholders with events hosted at the CCFJC.
  • Assist with clothing shop operations, documentation, and inventory of teen-friendly donations.
  • Maintain and distribute accurate flyers, handouts, and respond to resource requests.

A high school diploma or GED, and one-year experience performing general information processing sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job mentioned above. Experience in a high-volume receptionist or resource center environment work is preferred. Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of various software applications including Word, Access, Excel and Outlook are required. Court or legal office experience is desirable. Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner and maintain good working relationships. Must be a team player with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. Must have excellent written and oral communication, time management and organizational skills. Special requirements: The ability to reliably travel throughout the county is required. Finalists must successfully pass a criminal background investigation and reference check.
