Construction Project Coordinator 2

The Department of Wildlife is seeking to fill a Construction Project Coordinator 2 in Elko. Projects and tasks for this position will be focused in the Eastern Region for the department but could assist statewide. The position will include, but not be limited to procuring, planning, directing, performing, and overseeing minor and major maintenance, repairs, improvements, and new construction, spanning all facilities and construction related trades and disciplines in all of NDOW's (Nevada Department of Wildlife) administrative, residential, and industrial facilities throughout the state. The position requires a significant amount of autonomy, but work will be performed in coordination with and under the direction of NDOW's supportive engineering section. The position requires a wide range of knowledge and experience including review and interpretation of construction contracts, plans and specifications, building codes, procurement requirements, and contract documents. Preparation and/or knowledge of solicitation documents, contracts, bidding processes, plans, specifications, and contractor coordination experience is beneficial. Existing business relationships with quality vendors and contractors are also beneficial. The incumbent shall develop and manage a facility management plan to optimize useful life of building systems and ensure timely, value-based facility investments. The position will offer opportunities for training (conferences and classes), credentialling and advancement. The incumbent will be allowed some flexibility to create their own mutually beneficial work schedule. There will be ample opportunity to work overtime if desired. NDOW offers a uniform and clothing allowance, as well as employee discounts on various goods and services and other special offers.

Construction Project Coordinators perform a variety of building construction coordination and inspection work requiring a broad knowledge of construction principles and practices, including specialty areas such as roofing, asbestos, underground storage tanks, paving, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) structural and access requirements, and facility analysis.

This class specification lists the major knowledge, skills and abilities of the job and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) will be expected to have knowledge, skills and abilities from a previous level.

Working knowledge of: contract administration including cost estimating, laws, ethics, specifications, and architectural and engineering practices; construction project coordination and inspection techniques; applicable building codes and the application of their requirements.

General knowledge of: policies and procedures for construction projects; functions of relevant governmental offices sufficient to coordinate and research projects; functions of agency divisions sufficient to obtain needed information; materials testing procedures and equipment.

Ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, suppliers, federal, State and local officials and co-workers; organize meetings and projects; work independently; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals to formulate test results, budgets and cost estimates; write technically correct inspection reports and correspondence; adapt to changes in workload and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate; resolve problems diplomatically with agency representatives, contractors, property owners, public officials, and other State agencies; and all knowledge, skills and abilities required at the lower level.
