Under general supervision, greets visitors, answers telephones, receives calls for service, dispatches officers and provides customer service support for Animal Control activities and services. FLSA status: Non-Exempt.
Performs customer service tasks in support of animal control services; answers the phone and greets citizens and customers; provides assistance and general information to callers; accepts payments and processes required data and forms for animal redemptions, adoptions, animal licenses, donations, reports, rental agreements and miscellaneous revenue; maintains and balances cash drawer; prepares daily deposits, makes copies, impounds stray animals and owner relinquishments, inventories office supplies, maintains rabies log, files documents, balances trap agreement revenue, sorts incoming mail. Assists with cleaning kennels and handling animals. The employee will be required to work in the presence of supervised Department of Corrections inmates who assist with shelter maintenance duties. Provides assistance and information to customers and citizens with inquiries and complaints. Assists with rabies vaccination clinics; assists with scheduling educational programs on-site and in the community. Forwards license letters to owners; enters work orders for office area, dispatches calls for service to officers in the field. Retrieves calls from office voice mailbox. Works closely with Police Department dispatch.
Knowledge of: Department policies, procedures, and schedules of activities. Basic office procedures and practices. Ability to: Work under minimal supervision and in a team environment as required.
High school diploma or GED required. Two (2) years experience in general office, cashiering, and customer service. 35 wpm typing certification- original required. (instructions for submitting your typing test will be sent out after your application has been reviewed) Passing written exam score 70% Valid Arizona Driver's license. Must be able to pass Sierra Vista Police Department and Arizona Department of Corrections background check.
