Administrative & Operations Support

Monitors retail purchases and inventory statewide. Plans and execute retail procurement strategies to maximize customer satisfaction, minimize cost and increase revenue. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Manages category, vendor and item performance. Serves as a subject matter expert.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, communicates, and implements retail strategies based on overall objectives, customer needs, supply market dynamics, technological changes in the marketplace, and other relevant factors. Compiles and analyzes data.
  • Analyzes retail inventory and sales both at the site and state level. Presents results and recommendations to field and management level.
  • Assists sites on appropriate retail items, volume, and price.
  • Provide retail training to field and region management.
  • Serves as central point of contact for new vendors. Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication and working relationships with park staff and vendors.
  • Leads negotiations with vendors to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize costs.
  • Utilizes computer skills to create, manage, analyze, and document sizable datasets and/or research information related to retail operations. Prepare technical or statistical reports.
  • Understands and complies with Standard Operating Procedures of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. Evaluates and offers suggestions for improvement regarding retail operations.
  • Assists with visitor center renovations to ensure adequate and functional retail space is included in the design. Assists sites in preparation for opening new retail areas.
  • Reviews inventory quantities and work with field to ensure quality data is in POS system.
  • Maintains master point-of-sale list in POS system, including adding new products, making corrections to existing products, and activating/deactivating items as needed.
  • Represents the Division at gift marts and trade shows to identify new vendors and/or products, network, and share information with Division staff.
  • Develop online store, including updating website with merchandise images and product descriptions.

Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience related to area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Busi Support Analyst 1 (GSP130). Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
