Become a valued member of a vibrant, multicultural team, who provide essential support to international students to ensure they succeed in their field of study at Flinders University.

We are seeking someone who is a customer focused individual with the ability to navigate and interpret complex University as well as government policies and procedures, to provide efficient and responsive support and advice to international students. The role of Client Services Officer (Sponsored Students), or CSOSS, has a particular emphasis on ensuring that the University fulfils its contractual and service obligations to international students in receipt of scholarships from the Australian government and foreign sponsoring agencies.

Working collaboratively with other Client Services staff in the International Student Service team to provide effective and consistent client and customer focused services to international students, the CSOSS is accountable for:

  • Providing administrative support to assist in the case management of sponsored students
  • Contributing to the use, and where appropriate, enhancement of, related systems and reporting for sponsored students
  • Implementing initiatives that effectively link Client Services functions to the case management undertaken by the International Student Advisors
  • Working with other Client Services staff in the Marketing and Recruitment teams where support may be provided in managing admissions processes or recruitment advice associated with sponsored students.

With your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will achieve a high level of customer service standards to maintain strong and constructive relationships with diverse staff, students, and industry stakeholders. You will be well versed in diplomacy to communicate complex and sensitive matters in a cross-cultural working environment. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while always demonstrating a commitment to high quality service delivery.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with international students, including an understanding of other cultures and the ability to communicate in a cross-cultural working environment.
  • Well developed computing and administrative skills including data entry, word processing and developing and maintaining electronic and paper based administrative systems, with a commitment to attention to detail, efficiency and accuracy.
  • Intermediate to advanced financial management skills such as review and reconciliation of financial transactions and use of financial systems
  • Effective analytical and written communication skills, including the ability to present and interpret data.

  • A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which is satisfactory to the University will be required by Flinders University before the successful applicant can commence in this position. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Each case will be assessed on its individual merits and relevance to the inherent requirements of the role.
  • It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA).
