Lab Support Technician

We are looking for a customer-focused and enthusiastic Lab Support Technician to support lab infrastructure (storage/backup systems, virtual and physical servers), lab host systems (servers, desktops) and lab target systems (engineering boards, devices under test) support. Scope of work includes initial installation/configuration, changes, ongoing maintenance and monitoring and issues and break/fix. The applicant should be technically competent, possess excellent written and communication skills and be willing to collaborate effectively and efficiently with the wider Global IT support teams.

Based on the Intel campus in Leixlip, you will be supporting a customer who sets high standards for themselves and expects the same standards of DXC as their IT support provider.

Lab Hardware Support

• These services include the into-scope support of all types of hardware used in the lab area.
• Hardware landing, move and end-of-line including assembling and disassembling
• Hardware upgrades and parts replacements
• Hardware troubleshooting and issues resolution including searching for suitable replacement parts, engaging with internal support teams
• Firmware/remote management capabilities updates
• Lab Assets/Capacity tracking and reporting

Lab Operating Systems & Software Support

• These services include the into-scope support of all types of operating systems and software used in the lab area. Includes Windows Client, Windows Server, and Linux.
• OS installation using internal and external builds, automated and manual OS provisioning techniques, procedures, and customer requirements
• Windows: Troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Good understanding of Active Directory and Group Policies.
• Linux: user/group administration and performance monitoring (CPU, memory and disk usage, processes management)
• Performing OS configuration, software installations, troubleshooting and issues resolution including issues related to network, authentication, remote access etc.
• Configuring OS installation and post-install customization automations according to customer requirements
• Performing security patching and security compliance configurations including working with users to schedule downtime
• Enabling and supporting virtualization solutions in labs at both hypervisor and VMs level

Lab Infrastructure Support

• In addition, in combination with the above, support of specialized lab dedicated infrastructure solutions including data storage, backup, (Veeam), virtualization, application, and interactive servers

Lab Monitoring Services

• Hardware walkthrough diagnosis and resolution of found issues
• Constant tracking and monitoring throughout lab network and hosts to ensure service continuity

Essentials Skills/Qualifications:

• 1- 2 years working in a similar IT role
• Excellent communication skills (English) both written and verbal
• Excellent organizational skills
• Experience in use of test and measurement equipment
• Understanding of both Windows and Linux environments
• Understanding of networking protocols and the configuration of devices on a network.
• Network Admin experience
