Dow Chemical Thailand Co., Ltd. is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Technical Service And Development Specialist based in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. This position will focus on Polyurethane foam applications, encompassing both technical service and application development for Southeast Asia markets.

In this market-oriented technical capacity, responsibilities include identifying and executing customer opportunities in collaboration with commercial and marketing teams; liaising with regional and global TS&D groups for development initiatives; ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards and product stewardship during new product scale-ups; and developing or introducing solutions at targeted customers to facilitate product qualification and commercialization. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with sales, marketing, and technical colleagues across Asia Pacific and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the regional PU Sales team to identify the growth opportunities.
  • Provide product recommendations, fine-tuning formulation for existing products relating to customer needs, and on-site trial support for identified customer opportunities.
  • Troubleshooting support for customer quality complaints by working with the sales, production, supply chain and quality organization. Continually define and reduce costs associated with product performance and quality.
  • Generate high-quality technical reports for development projects and write customer call reports. Conduct technical symposiums for industry meetings and at the customer sites, and to prepare technical literature/publications.
  • Seamless teamwork and effective communication with sales, marketing, commercial leadership, TS&D peers, production, quality control, product stewardship, and other R&D colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Polymer Science/Material Science/Chemistry or related fields.
  • New graduate - 2 years of experience in chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of chemistry, thermoplastic polymers, and thermosetting polymers.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is preferred.
  • Thai native speaking
  • Flexible with frequent travel within the territory and Southeast Asia, accounting for approximately 25-50% of the time.

Preferred skills:

  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of chemical processes, formulations, and materials. Ability to work with lab equipment, interpret chemical reactions, and apply engineering principles to develop or improve products.
  • Analytical Skills: Skilled in analyzing experimental data, identifying trends, and using statistical tools (e.g., DOE, regression analysis) to optimize processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Capable of troubleshooting issues in formulation, scale-up, or production. Uses root cause analysis and scientific methods to resolve technical challenges efficiently.
  • Communication: Able to clearly explain complex chemical concepts to cross-functional teams, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Presentation: Comfortable presenting technical findings, project updates, and proposals to internal teams or external partners.
  • Project Management: Experienced in planning and executing development projects, managing timelines, coordinating with R&D, production, and QA/QC teams, and ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Self-Motivated: Takes initiative in exploring new ideas, solving problems, and driving projects forward without constant supervision.
  • Customer-Focused: Understands customer needs and translates them into technical solutions. Supports customer trials and provides technical assistance when needed.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Works effectively with colleagues across departments (e.g., R&D, manufacturing, regulatory) to achieve shared goals. Open to feedback and values diverse perspectives.
  • Continuous Learning: Keeps up with the latest developments in chemical technology, materials science, and industry trends.
  • Adaptability: Flexible in adopting new methods, tools, and technologies. Can quickly adjust to changes in project scope or market demands.
