The Event Support Analyst serves as the primary IT representative responsible for planning and executing technology needs for both virtual and in-person events across the country. You support IT for internal business stakeholders, event planners, attendees, volunteers, and fundraisers. This role oversees all event-related technology, including evaluating event scope, coordinating technology needs (via organizational staff or vendor partners), setting up equipment, testing software and hardware, and ensuring network and telephone connectivity. On-site responsibilities include setup, maintenance, support, and teardown of all applications and hardware. Serves as the primary technology contact/expert for virtual and in person events, regardless of event type. May work under supervision and/or perform work as directed by senior team members for larger, more complex events. Provides technical leadership during event planning, and at events, handling any concerns with the urgency and ability needed to deliver resolutions in an efficient, calm and professional manner. Interacts and negotiates with existing vendors to plan and execute events, and resolve technical problems as needed. Ensures all technology/connectivity (portable devices, mobile, network, printer, modems etc.) is efficiently configured, installed, integrated, and maintained to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Participates in on-boarding and training new members to the Event Support team. Executes existing Event Support processes and participates in team driven process improvement efforts. Expect events to occur outside or normal working hours including nights and weekends.
Expect to be comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time (3+ days per week during peak times).
3-5 years' experience working in customer service or similar role. Top skills desired: Customer service (e.g., customer focused, easy to approach, professional, calm under pressure, bias for action/always moving forward, can take an issue and get the answer vs passing on to someone else) Communication (e.g., friendly, clear communication, efficient, professional, able to speak with everyone from the janitor to the CEO and Board members, clearly states expectations and needs) Organization (e.g., reliable, detail oriented, not afraid to ask questions if anything is unclear, documents important notes) Experience in a support role of some sort. Proven success in working with people/teams where they're seen as problem solvers.
Ideal candidate profile: A recent ideal candidate worked in a school for tech support. The needs vary in school environment and work with people from all backgrounds and must be patient, meet deadlines and creative solutions to meet the needs. If they work or have worked in a school environment, they would be use to varying request from staff or supporting events. Many ideal candidates have come from Apple in the Genius role. It's an example where you must be calm in tense situations, customer focused and resolving the user's issue. Typically, the candidates are young and incredibly professional and responsible, while still being themselves/have some personality. When at an event, the team member must be trusted at high profile events to be punctual, perform their job well and work through situations to correct anything that goes wrong.
