Desktop Support Technician

Location: On-site – New London, CT

Employment Type: Contract (potential for extension or hire)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Position Summary: We're seeking a Desktop Support Technician with strong hands-on experience to support a large, multi-site hospital organization in New London, CT. This role is part of a broader IT support team responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of technology systems used by clinical and administrative staff across a high-volume healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

End-User Support in a Healthcare Setting:

  • Provide in-person technical support to hospital staff, including physicians, nurses, and administrative teams
  • Respond to walk-up, phone, and ticket-based support requests with urgency and professionalism
  • Deliver high-touch support for clinical workflows and time-sensitive issues in patient care areas

Hardware Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops, thin clients, monitors, and printers
  • Support specialized medical peripherals and devices used in clinical operations
  • Perform hardware replacements and upgrades as needed

Software & Application Support:

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 and enterprise applications
  • Support Microsoft Office Suite, Citrix environments, and healthcare applications such as Epic
  • Resolve issues related to VPN, antivirus, remote access, and secure data handling

Imaging, Deployment & Lifecycle Management:

  • Use SCCM or similar tools to image and deploy systems across hospital departments
  • Configure devices to meet organizational standards and clinical requirements
  • Participate in large-scale hardware refreshes and technology rollouts

Account & Access Management:

  • Manage user accounts in Active Directory, including password resets and access provisioning
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and hospital IT security protocols

Documentation & Inventory Control:

  • Maintain detailed records of support activities in ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Track and update asset inventory, including device assignments and locations
  • Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to internal knowledge base

Collaboration & Escalation:

  • Work closely with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to resolve escalated issues
  • Participate in IT team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Support cross-functional projects and technology upgrades across the hospital

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
