Lead - PPIS, US

Orica USA Inc. seeks a lead - PPIS, US in Centennial, CO to research, design, and direct the support of Orica Mining Services product, process, and implementation support in North America focusing on improving productivity of our business and that of our customers. In detail, the job duties of the lead PPIS US are to provide a professional level of specialization in explosives and project management; troubleshoot, provide technical support, and endeavor to improve both internal and external customer satisfaction; investigate opportunities and focus on maximization of overall bulk profit margins through guiding contributions of innovative actions to continuously reduce product application costs; develop and ensure the implementation and education of Orica's safety procedures; provide SHES training and ensures the MOC system is used for product/process change; serve as subject matter expert and provides Orica products and processes training to internal and external customers; determine and improve the application of innovative, value-added products and systems for surface and underground mining; evaluate Orica's products and processes and ensures relevant quality procedures are performed and adhered to; be responsible for ensuring that plant/equipment commissioning takes place to Orica standards; perform plant & field tests and audits, and ensure corrective actions are implemented to address concerns and avoid product complaints; maintain regional Technology Management system and identifies beneficial regional technology strategy options including successfully transferring or integrating these technologies to the team; maintain awareness of competitive product information and using this knowledge in strategic planning; lead a team of PPIS technologists across the US, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic to support bulk explosives formulation, manufacturing, and implementation; manage internal and external stakeholders such as customers, territory managers, and research & development to ensure product reliability and commercial success; research, develop and implement laboratory and field-based projects including microscopy, rheology, velocity of detonation, dynamic pressure, and fluid dynamics analysis used to characterize explosive emulsions; support implementation and testing including new formulations, manufacturing trials, field assessments, and equipment alterations; complete product complaint investigations including misfires, fume, poor performance, density, reactivity, and raw material issues, in a variety of settings including underground and surface mines; complete bulk explosive manufacturing audits to recommend improvements and action plans on the domestic and international travel to company and customer sites up to 60%. Telecommuting may be permitted for up to 2 days a week. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field. 30 months' experience of assisting with and supporting product and process implementation in mining and quarrying industries. 2 years' experience of working with a team of technicians and/or engineers in a chemical or mining related field. 1 year of experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) equipment (e.g. viscometers, rheometers, data acquisition devices, microscopes). Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 which must include Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Proficiency in SAP. Experience in image processing using digital microscopes. Experience with density modeling programs. Experience in technical writing. Experience in theoretical thermodynamics calculations. Mine Safe and Health Administration (MSHA) Certification Underground & Surface Miner.
