The RSO Access Control and Help Desk Coordinator manages secure access to U.S. Mission Iraq (USMI) facilities by verifying clearances, processing visitor and vehicle access requests, and maintaining access-related databases. Under the supervision of the Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO), the coordinator serves as the subject matter expert for access policy, supports the RSO Help Desk, trains personnel on access procedures, and performs regular audits to ensure compliance. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and excellent communication with embassy personnel and security units.

RSO ACCESS CONTROL AND HELP DESK COORDINATOR Responsibilities Include: Under the supervision of Assistant Regional Security Officer, provides a wide array of administrative and operational functions for USMI facilities. The incumbent will maintain access control integrity to USMI facilities. Responsible for clearance verifications and myServices Visitor Access Request (VAR) System and other data bases relating to Mission personnel and visitors. Process all access requests submitted through Regional Security Office (RSO) in accordance with Post policy. Incumbent may be called upon to respond to urgent after-hours evening, weekend, or holiday access system problems, either by phone or in person. Serve as primary coordinator for Post's access control program and security clearance verification process. Develops or modifies procedures and processes, in conjunction with the DRSO or their designee. Reviews and analyzes application information and consults with ARSOs when necessary to address problems, questions, Verify personnel security clearances and certification of over 5,000 plus personnel employees and contractors requiring identification cards and access to the Embassy. Serve as the subject matter expert on the access control policy and assist in policy updates and revisions. Provide Customer Service at RSO Security Help Center. Process all visitor and vehicle access requests submitted through VARS to include VIP visits. Reports immediately any anomalies in the access request system and the clearance verifications process. Perform periodic audits of VARS and other databases to identify any irregularities in access, which would warrant further RSO investigations. Frequent interactions with Badging Office, the Marine security detachment office, the Embassy Liaison Unit, and Baghdad Embassy Security Force local guard force to ensure that access into Embassy facilities continues to operate seamlessly. Verify security clearances, enter data and to authorize the issuance of Mission badge for access to Chief of Mission Facilities. Destroy and document badge and access documentation as required. Performs in-service training for new officers and contract employees in the operation of the access control and other post-related security policies. Manage and Update USMI Clearance Verification SharePoint site. Serve as security escort as required. Coordinate weekly RSO Security Briefing for New Arrivals and Post Badge Renewals. Support RSO with other administrative duties as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned
RSO ACCESS CONTROL AND HELP DESK COORDINATOR Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Fluent in the English language Five years of professional work experience in an office environment is required. Ability to maintain records in an effective, confidential and secure manner. Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, SharePoint and InfoPath is required. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of computer spreadsheet, database, and word processing application software, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and SharePoint, or their equivalent. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills including diplomacy, discretion, and the ability to interact in a professional, friendly, customer service-oriented manner with staff and residents. Ability to establish and maintain effective political acumen and discretion necessary to work effectively with various entities and individuals in a complex organizational environment. Ability to interpret, apply, and explain complex policies, rules and regulations clearly and courteously. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written directions/instructions.
