O SP/ISP Construction Technical Support
The OSP/ISP Construction Technical Support will plan and prepare drawings for new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
Knowledge of the physical infrastructure of telecom networks to include cables, poles, and conduit.
Installation of interior fiber, copper, and coaxial cabling.
Terminating, splicing, testing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling.
Installing cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in cabinet.
Technical documentation skills.
Communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable).
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience installing outside and interior copper and fiber cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and supporting ground and power connections.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience installing of cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in the cabinets.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a military environment.
- Must have the following certifications: BICSI or similar certification.
- Must have a valid passport and be able to travel OCONUS up to 50%.
Education:
- Associates degree in a Scientific Technical discipline, OR eleven (11) total years of recent specialized experience.
