Administers the base local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
Determines customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services.
Provides customer technical assistance and support.
Conducts feasibility studies to identify and analyze network failures and analyzes data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement or modification of network hardware and software.
Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)/Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE) for the 82d Communications Squadron.

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required. Position is considered a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. Incumbent is required to obtain (within 6-months of hire) or maintain an existing IAQ DOD 8570.01M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, and the Clinger Cohen Act of 1996, and obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264, Information Assurance Technical Level II, (Security +) IAW current AF directives.
Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-9 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Applying IT network systems design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in planning, developing, testing, installing, operating, administering, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements; Utilizing the organization's network architecture, topology, and protocols to plan, design, develop, and integrate network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructures; Utilizing customer support concepts/methods, installed applications, operating/network systems, protocols, and equipment to assist management in determining requirements and resolving problems; and Implementing customer support techniques/principles to review, validate, and standardize problem resolutions for inclusion in problem resolution databases.
OR EDUCATION: successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. 2. Knowledge of the network architecture, topology, and protocols typically found at base and lower-level organizations. 3. Knowledge of configuration management concepts and practices to develop and implement plans for LANs and WANs. 4. Knowledge of customer support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems. 5. Knowledge of network customer use and systems maintenance sufficient to give needed guidance or training to customers and workgroup managers to prevent problem recurrences. 6. Ability to communicate factual and procedural information clearly, both orally and in writing
