The essential function of the position is to receive, log, and distribute construction plans for plan checking; check and review permit applications and supporting documents for proper form, sufficiency of information, and conformance with legal standards; provide first-line customer service throughout the building permit process.

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in business or office administration or closely related field. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Licenses, certifications, and registrations refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. None.
Experience refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position. Requires two years of clerical experience involving extensive public contact, preferably in the building, construction, or real estate industry. Able to read and understand construction plans and maps.
