RN I - Float Pool - Transitional Care Unit Support

As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
• Completing age specific admission and ongoing assessments.
• Collaborating with members of the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate an interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Accurately administering and documenting treatments and medications.
• Identifying and addressing patient/family educational needs.
• Contributing to performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrating the role of patient advocate.
• Applying knowledge of growth and development.
• Determining and performing within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways.
• Exhibiting clinical expertise.
• Planning strategies to reduce length of stay and improve patient outcomes.
• Functioning as a role model for clinical practice.
• Managing resources and establishing priorities.
• Completing manager/director predetermined projects.
• Using problem-solving methods.
• Taking an active role in the orientation of new employees.
• Providing feedback to staff.
• Participating in unit, hospital, and/or system activities.
• Assisting with providing education activities.

Requirements include:

• Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
