Freight Forwarder / Customer Service Representative

We are looking for a dedicated Freight Forwarder / Customer Service Representative to join our team in Torrance, California. In this contract-to-permanent position, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction by managing import operations and providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in freight forwarding and a strong understanding of shipping regulations, customs compliance, and consolidated cargo handling.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle all stages of import operations, from initiation to completion, ensuring seamless processes.
  • Utilize the Cargowise operating system to manage import workflows efficiently.
  • Coordinate the handling of consolidated cargo, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and minimizing disruptions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers, trucking companies, and other vendors to optimize costs.
  • Manage cross-border shipments, ensuring alignment with shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Adapt to high-pressure environments while maintaining a positive and focused demeanor.
  • Proactively identify and resolve challenges to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a freight forwarding company managing import operations.
  • Proficiency in using the Cargowise operating system.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling consolidated cargo and customs compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of shipping regulations, including customs procedures and documentation.
  • Strong negotiation skills with carriers, trucking companies, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and build lasting relationships.
  • Experience managing cross-border shipments and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
